Sarah Browne is a singer-songwriter based out of Pleasantville, New York. From a very young age, Sarah felt incredibly drawn to music. An almost entirely self-taught musician, she started teaching herself piano at the age of thirteen and picked up guitar shortly after. She discovered her love for songwriting at eighteen. After she had written her first song, she felt compelled to share her music with others.
She began attending open mics and eventually started playing her own shows at venues throughout New York City and Westchester, including The Delancey, Leftfield on Ludlow, 12 Grapes, the Pleasantville Farmers Market, the Ossining Village Fair and many more. Sarah now plays both as a solo musician and with her band.
Sarah's debut album, entitled To You, was released in December 2017. To You is the culmination of nearly five years worth of songwriting. One of her most notable assets is her voice, which is reminiscent of both Natalie Merchant and Cat Power. What truly sets Sarah apart, however, is her songwriting. Her style is characterized by her ability to create tantalizing melodies that take on an integral part of each song. Her lyrics are poetic and honest in a straightforward, unassuming way. She views this album as a collage of songs and considers it to be just the beginning. To You is now available on all music platforms.
Sarah hopes that through her music she can inspire others to pursue their own passions and dreams. She feels that music is "the way that she can most positively impact the world.”
She plans on using music as a platform to spread awareness about Friedreich’s Ataxia, which is a very rare, genetic disease that took the life of her cousin, Matthew Rupel, in August 2017. She hopes that she can help raise money for a cure.
